Assignment: Write a 250 word essay on how the 3 areas of business apply to a business in your city. This can be a family business, a well-known business, or your favorite business.
In any business there are 3 main areas: sales and marketing, operations, and finance and administration. The first area, sales and marketing is responsible for finding customers and convincing them to buy the product or service. The second area, operations delivers on the promises made by sales and marketing. The third area, finance and administration carries out all the back-end work. This includes paying bills and managing the other areas. I am going to talk about how these 3 areas apply to our family winery Hazlitt 1852 Vineyards.
In our business sales and marketing advertises our wines and tries to attract people to our 2 retail locations in Hector NY and Naples NY. There are many different parts to operations are of our business. We need people to run the tasting rooms and the Oasis (an outdoor bar/pavilion). There are people that cook food for our concession stand and for events. Someone has to grow and then pick the grapes. Someone has to make the wine then it’s bottled and stored. There are people that ship the wine to and from our locations. As you can see there is a lot that goes on. Finally, finance and administration manages everything and handles any problems that arise. They also take care of payroll, taxes, and any other bills. These 3 areas of a business apply to all businesses and are important to think about.
