The Costs of Government Benefits

Date Written: 10/11/2022

Assignment: Write 250 words on this topic: “If the state is strong enough to do something good for you, it can also do something bad to you.”

There are many good things that the state can do for someone. These good things could be cash handouts, a new road, etc. However, with all these good things come costs. The state can’t make these things happen for free. The state has to get the money from somewhere in order to do these good things. They get the money by stealing it from other people. This is often done by taxation. For example, when someone receives a welfare check that is obviously a good thing for that person. We must consider where that money came from. It was stolen from many other people in the form of taxes. Therefore, whenever someone receives something good from the state someone else gets something bad like taxes.

As has been explained above, whenever the state does good for someone it harms someone else. Almost everyone receives some good things from the state, so eventually the person receiving the good things will be getting the bad things. In the example above someone got a welfare check, which is a good thing. This person is also going to be taxed to supply the money for the welfare checks of other people, which is a bad thing. This cycle of positive and negative sanctions takes the form of many things in our society today. When the state can give someone benefits it also has the power to cause them harm.

I hope this system finally gets exposed to the masses. I also hope they get rid of most of the taxation in the near future!
